museum

Although it was once funded entirely by the government, the Victoria and Albert Museum was one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from corporations and private donors and to increase income by increasing attendance.

(A) one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from
(B) one of Britain’s first national museums seeking support of
(C) among Britain’s first national museums to seek support of
(D) among the first of Britain’s national museums to seek support from
(E) among Britain’s first national museums that have sought the support of

I am a bit confused with the construction "among the first of Britain’s national museums to seek" in answer choice D.. why this construction is correct here but not "one of the first of Britain's national museums...." in answer choice A..

A: one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from.
This option suggests that the Victoria and Albert Museum was one of the first of (britian's national museums who were seeking support).
IMO D

It should be D IMO.

'seek support from' looks more correct than 'seek support of'

I will go with D....

(A) one of the first of Britain’s national museums seeking support from
(B) one of Britain’s first national museums seeking support of
(C) among Britain’s first national museums to seek support of
(D) among the first of Britain’s national museums to seek support from
(E) among Britain’s first national museums that have sought the support of

seek support from is correct idiom...
among is the correct usage here

since it is used..."the first" is acting a a direct object Noun....after the be verb...

Revised Answer is D. (The earlier choice was wrong . Silly mistake by not reading all options properly and fully)

Parallel sentence structure.

to seek support, to increase income

Cheers!!!

One good thing about some SCs is that it tests for more than one thing luckily. This one tests for parallelism, idiom and the amon v/s one of (not sure what to call this test). I used POE and first targetted parallelism. "to seek support, to increase". Then the idiom "support from". And chose D. But I couldn't get to the among v/s one of. Is that really tested here? If yes, what exactly is the test?
The other question I have is " do all SCs in the real GMAT have more than one tests? Because if they are testing for exactly one thing and if I won't get it then I am doomed
200 or 800. It don't matter no more.
