Analysis of Argument

"Magic Hat Brewery recently released the results of a survey of visitors to its tasting room last year. Magic Hat reports that the majority of visitors asked to taste its low-calorie beers. To boost sales, other small breweries should brew low-calorie beers as well."

Argument:

First the argument is trying to correlate the sales of beer and survey of the results without any backing data that the sales are related to the survey of the tasters. What if the tasters preferred to taste beers but then do not plan on buying the beer.

Second there are no reports on the sales as to how this is related to low-calorie beers. for example how many low-calorie beers were sold. Does this correlate to the survey numbers. Furthermore, the users who tasted these low-calorie beers would they buy it to boost the sales.

Third the author mentions that the small breweries should brew low-calorie beers to boost sales. There is no mention of the size of Magic Hat Brewery to make the point that it has effect on small breweries. A sales number along with the size of Magic Hat Brewery would help to reason this argument.

Finally if there was a mention on how the low-calorie beers would rate against the other beers and other alcoholic drinks the argument would be more plausible. Furthermore the type of visitors were not mentioned in the argument. What is all the visitors were of certain age group and preferred low-calorie beers and demographically these people were very less in number.
