Public buildings are built to add values and support needs of the society. On one hand, the society determines the needs for public buildings based on society current issues which are necessary to fix for good of it. On other hand, there are many instances when the society builds public buildings because of political propaganda or without the need. However, I believe that public buildings represent society values and its attitudes.

First, the people, who make society, drive the need for public buildings, and it is the people who decide what or how to build the buildings. If the society is growing and its businesses are expanding internationally, it needs good airports which should be well connected to other countries.

Second, the society values depend on many factors such as people educations, employment and good court houses which regulate the society laws. The good educated societies have good schools and universities. For example, USA has many world renowned colleges and school which play crucial roles in creating good professionals. It shows how good the society from education perspective, and also the good schools attract top students from other countries which help the society to grow and become powerful.

Third, public buildings are built based on the society’s know how and they represent its financial and technical health. People can determine the society’s attitude and values by just seeing the public buildings of the society. China’s new international airport, which is one of the largest airports of the world with high end technical features, is one of the examples, and indeed, it also represents the China technical and financial power to world.

Finally, the society can build what the society is, and public buildings are true examples of its values, financial capabilities and technical abilities. Public buildings also represent, in general, the society’s policies and its growth.
