"an advance" shall be "an achievement".IMO : A
Although I am not very sure about this answer choice.In Order to maintain parallelism the trailing part of the sentence shall use simple past,"an advancement that led".We need the help of some other enlightened soul

Confused between A and D.
IMO D because I would prefer 'discovery of' rather than 'discovery that'. but not sure about the present continous tense leading at the end.
