The Sunrise policy at Melvin Prexart & Co states that, henceforth, the strategy guidelines should be implemented quicker than they had been in the past.

(A) the strategy guidelines should be implemented quicker than they had been in the past
(B) the strategy guidelines should be implemented quicker than they have been in the past
(C) the strategy guidelines should be implemented quicker than they did in the past
(D) the strategy guidelines should be implemented more quickly than they have been in the past
(E) the strategy guidelines should be implemented more quickly than they had been in the past

hi. the problem with "A" . is quicker is an adjective, which modifies noun. but we need an adverb "quickly" to modify the verb "implemented".
thanks

QUICKER THAN is not right (check, we will NOT get any use of QUICKER THAN in NYTIMES)- drop A/B/C. MORE QUICKLY THAN is better.

D is ok but since we have IN THE PAST, use of HAVE BEEN not correct (IN THE PAST implies ACTION IS NO MORE BEING DONE...and therefore HAVE BEEN inappropriate).

IMO E (but this choice could have been better if we had "they were in the past").

Request some expert to throw some more light on this, so that we could be sure of the reasons behind the answers.

Regards.

we need an adverb here : "quicker" is an adjective in comparative complex - in superlative its quickest, and not an adverb. "Quickly" is an adverb.

This narrows down to D and E. Due to verb-tense consistent issue as stated bt patanjali, E is supposed to be the correct one.

IMO:E
