Hello All :

I am pretty sure there are tons of posts in this blog somewhere - regarding similar questions about low GMAT score and what /how one could round up their Application.

I am planning to apply for Part Time MBA or weekend MBA program mostly with some exceptions to schools like INSEAD ( full time only although it's 1 year) etc.

Well, let me give some bulleted profile info about myself /

Age : 34 years
Education : Masters in Electrical&Computer Engineering - GPA 3:5/4.0

Work Experience :
- 10 years Experience in Semiconductors/ASIC Design & verification - Senior Engineer (Application specific integrated chip design& verification )
Other :
- Core Volunteer with a couple of Charity organizations for the past 10 years.

GMAT Past Attempts :
- Attempted GMAT in 2008 June, although got a 580 Low Score. Very disappointed and tried to take the exam again, although due to a mishap had to go out of country around the exam time and I had to cancel it last day.
- I am re-taking the GMAT again now, in December - and my preparation is not yet in full Swing - for whatever the excuses and reasons might be ( Full time Job, & Full Time Mom roles.. I am a mom of 2 kids, 1 is in Kindergarten and one is a toddler )

My Target Schools ideally : INSEAD ( my husband is an Alum ) , UC Berkeley Haas, Columbia, Babson, Boston Univeristy, MIT Sloan, UV Darden, Fuqua School of Business.

These schools are mostly keeping in mind b/n programs and family and places where I would still be okay to relocate and find a job.

I have 6 weeks to go for my Final Shot and my preparation is slim. I've been skimming and trying to do an hour at nights, but has not been consistent. Plan to take more practice tests every weekend here after.

What and how can I improve my Application & Recommendations considering that I've only been an Senior Engineer and have done only very few Lead positions.

Just was wondering if anyone had a chance to read through this post.

Some / Suggestions am also lookign for duing the prep are :

1) It's only possible for me to take the GMAT practice exams during the weekends. Is it okay to take back to back tests on Saturday and Sunday ? How would that - skew the score ?

Appreciate all your comments and suggestions. Thanks.

Hi there,

As for taking the practise test only on weekend, it should not affect the scores on second day test provided u keep good gap of atleast 24 hours and get relaxed in mean while. For effective increase in scores concentrate more on SC and CR rather than on RC in verbal sections because SC ans CR would give better results in given time than does RC.
