Sentence Correction

A mars rover is an automated motor vehicle which propels itself across the surface of the planet Mars, gathering observations about the territory and conditions on Mars helping scientists determine whether life ever existed there.

A. conditions on Mars helping
B. conditions on Mars, with information helping
C. conditions on Mars that help
D. conditions on Mars, information that will hel
E. conditions on Mars, those that helped

OA : D

I am confused between answer choices B,C and D. Could someone clarify why we rejected B,C and choose D.

The information gathered by the vehicle will be used( in future) by scientists to determine some fact.

In B, helping is problematic as verbing adopts the time frame of the clause in which it is placed. From context, it is clear that future tense is required.
Moreover, prep+noun+Verbing is incorrect if emphasis is on verbing.

In C, similarly, simple present tense is problematic.
From context, it is clear that future tense is required.
