Mistake in Recommendation
Today I got to know that my recommender told me that in the recommendation he submitted, he answered ques 1 to 4. Which means instead of writing the recommendation in a letter format, he just provided specific answers to Q1 to Q4. I dont think this would have had an impact on the content. Any idea h...

I have done a fair bit of research on the Sloan programs. LBS looks for avrg 14 yrs experience. I also have 10 yrs exp and they asked me to apply couple of years later. You could send your resume to them for an informal review and they will get back to you in a weeks time. They also directed me to t...

Thanks Tani. You make a brilliant point. I will keep that in mind while writing my essay.Tani Wolff - Kaplan wrote:I like the hiring example, but you would need to be very careful not to seem condescending. Be sure you show how it changed YOU, what you learned and how you carried that moment forward.

Ask yourself how the school would be better with you there than without you. What would you do in the classroom and out that would enhance the experiences of your classmates? I would focus on contributions during your education, but if you are in a position to function after graduation as an ambass...

Thank you for your response. You do have a point. But considering that most of the candidates in a Sloan program are faily experienced, I am not sure how much of a differentiator eg. C will be. I have seen there are some Dir, CEOs, VPs in prev classes who have handled global profile. So I plan to us...

I feel "A" is too broad; being promoted is more a process than an experience, in my opinion. B and C both sound like great examples. B sounds a little more unusual and perhaps a better story, keeping the reader's interest while answering the question. I would surely mention C in some form...

You're going to have to dig deep - surely you've made an unpopular decision before. Anyone who makes decisions will make one that is unpopular with at least a small group. If you absolutely can't think of one, I would write about how you have avoided making unpopular decisions - maybe parlay that e...

Thanks Tani. These are some wonderful inputs. Also, would it make sense for me to check with the school on what is the acceptable length (word limits/pages) for a LOR.? At the risk of being hopelessly trite, letters should be like bathing suits - short enough to be interesting and long enough to cov...
