Thanx for your reply.
The usage of " like" in option A is correct, because the phrase following LIKE is a noun(GOAL). If I rephrase the sentence from the LIKE phrase, it will look "...., similar to a goal of earlier generations.".

i don't think this is a valid reason to eliminate A. the real red flag for A is on two grounds
firstly the usage "in planning to practice" is wrong.
Why is "in planning to practice" wrong?
