I chose 'E' as well . But now I think it can be regarded incorrect , cause the statement says that the courses are available (i.e. it may not be mandatory for students to attend them) .....
This could be A REASON for rejecting 'E' .... not sure if I am over-thinking though ....

I think it should be safe to assume rate as +ve. Cause if it were actually negative it would probably mean that whoever/whatever did stuff with a -ve rate is "not doing productive work" but is in all probability "doing destructive work" ..... Meaning if all the entities were work...

I believe we can also solve the problem in the following method (but need suggestions) : From the properties of Absolute value, we know that : |x| = (y-2z)/5 -----> eq 1 and |x| = -(y-2z)/5 -----> eq 2 So the above 2 equations are the ones that we should set out to prove using the statements in the ...

Hi ,
Your solution seems good to me. But I am not sure if I am right in practising questions from this source, as many claim it does not represent GMAT best.

Hi guys, Do you think the following approach can be applied. Multiplying 100 with x+y = 1 we get -> 100x+100y = 100 -----> 1 Multiplying 200 with x+y = 1 we get -> 200x+200y = 200 -----> 2 Now the question is 100x+200y = ? Since the numbers are both positive, Using equations 1 and 2 the following ca...

Just a small suggestion to some of the solutions stated above.
We can also use n-2,n,n+2 ... this will help in cancelling out terms and will be marginally quicker.

Let 'x' be the amount of the new solution added. Now acid constitutes 50% of this solution , therefore 0.5*x is the quantity of acid added. Now, 0.5*x + 0.8*40 = 0.7(40+x), which implies x = 20 units. Therefore the quantity of new solution added = 20 units. Quantity of acid in final mixture = 0.5*20...

I believe we can also do this problem by substituting any positive value for X and Y , cause of the following 2 reasons : 1. Question says that X and Y are positive (thus any positive value X=y,X>y,X<Y - can be assumed) 2. The answer choices to be validated against the question must satisfy the give...

I believe we cannot choose 'D' cause it just restates the fact already given in the argument and is not an assumption (which by definition is not stated in the argument). So we can safely ignore 'D'. I am new to CR by the way so I might be wrong.

Hi ,
I believe that C can be regarded incorrect because - the decrease in the availability of Livestock will be offset by the increase in the number of people not preferring livestock and hence the prices of the livestock may remain the same.

Hi,
I am new to CR. But I presume that B is not correct as it does not weaken the position that Large Companies are more likely to be affected.
In fact, in order to weaken the argument we would need to show that Small companies are more likely to be affected than large ones, hence A.
