I think your profile has potential and you have basic credentials that will make you a viable candidate at many top schools. However, I'm concerned by your career goal and your lack of work experience. In order to gain acceptance to an MBA program you will need to be able to better articulate why yo...

Hi nmiss - Perhaps I misunderstood your initial question but I will attempt to answer your second one. Yes, there are many marketing/CPG professionals and many of these apply to business school (although not in the same numbers as those in finance and consulting). It is equally as competitive for pr...

Admission Committees like applicants from all backgrounds. A career in CPG is great (especially if you can show progression and responsibility). Looking at the make-up of an incoming class is a bit misleading and should not discourage you. Generally, a business school like Stanford attracts the bulk...

As you know, you have targeted two very competitive schools so nothing is guaranteed. However, if you are able to put together a strong application (compelling essays and a well written resume), I think you have a good shot. Your GMAT and grades are very commendable and will make you a viable candid...

First of all, congratulations on a great GMAT score! I am also impressed by your initiative in taking a stats class and getting an A. Both of these quantitative measures will help off set your lower GPA and should make you a viable candidate for the programs you are targeting. I also like your uniqu...

First of all, you really shouldn't see your recommendations. I understand that a recommender may want to show you what s/he wrote, but, it is important that you waive your rights to see LORs. But, I know this isn't your question! Generally, for essays and applicant answers, there is a 10% rule (okay...

I think that you have targeted a good group of schools based on your profile. It is difficult to gauge your likelihood of acceptance based on solely the information that you provided, however, with compelling essays and strong LORs, I think you will be a competitive (and hopefully successful) applic...

Generally, a business school will want you to have a degree from a "4 year" institution. The path that you took to get the degree doesn't really matter (some people may take three years and others five), but, it is my understanding that it is important to have a true bachelor's degree and ...

While a 700 is a good score, you are applying to some very difficult/competitive schools. I think your chances are better with a 740 in R2 than a 700 in R1. Good luck and congrats on a good score! Jessica PS - I applied R3 (went to Booth) so I know the schools do let people in for all rounds. Don't ...

Dear Brightside - First of all, congratulations on an impressive GMAT score! With a score like that and a strong application, you should be able to mitigate any negative impact of your AWA. This is a situation that might benefit from an optional essay (normally I do not suggest writing these unless ...

Schools only consider your top score (in theory at least) and you can always take the test but not have the score reported (until you find out what it is and then you could report it if it is your best score). So, there really isn't a "risk" to taking the test again. But, it is time consum...

First of all, congratulations on a fantastic GPA! That will go a long way in mitigating other "weaknesses" (like a slightly lower GMAT). I haven't seen your resume, but, with strong essays and LORs, I think you have a decent shot at the schools you are targeting.
Good luck!!

Hi jfr5 - It is my opinion that you have a good shot at being admitted to one of the schools you listed. They are competitive and at this level of school it is very important to have strong LORs and a strong application. But, assuming you can pull those together, I think you will be a strong candida...

You may have difficulty getting responses because it is such a personal experience. I would suggest that you look at websites and talk to a few consultants before making a decision.
