4^17 - 2^28
= 2^34 - 2^28
= 2^28 (2^6 - 1)
=2^28 (64 - 1)
=2^28 * (63)
=2^28 * (9 * 7)
=2^28 * 3^2 * 7

So the prime factors of (4^17 - 2^28 ) are 2, 3, 7

Hence the greatest prime factor is 7.

The answer is A.

Fn(9) = 3*9 = 27, since 9 is odd
Fn(6) = (1/2)*6 = 3, since 6 is even

Fn(9)*Fn(6) = 27*3 = 81

Phantom, I agree that 125 has roots 5, -5 and -5, but for other value of n (other than 3) is (n+2)^n = 125? I think the only possible value of n satisfying that equation is 3. hence I believe the answer to be B. Can you provide an eloborate explantion?

Since x + y >0, both x and y cannot be -ve. Also when one of them is +ve and the other -ve, the +ve number has to be numerically greater than the -ve. now let us take (1) x >y. If both x and y are +ve then, since x > y, x > |y|. let one of them be -ve. Since x > y, x has to be +ve and y has to be -v...

thanks everybody for the clarification. Just a note that a few resources on the internet claim zero to be neither even nor odd. They have their own valid reasoning which cannot be ignored though.
