Right, can't believe I am making such dumb mistakes.
Point is that:
If two sets are evenly spaced and one has greater range than another then the set which has the greater range has standard deviation provided number of elements are same.
Thanks!

Shouldn't this should be AND & OR problem.
(Probability of selecting a business student who has a sibling in the law school) OR (Probability of selecting a law student who has a sibling in the business school) =
30/500 * 1/800 + 30/800 * 1/500

Standard Deviation Question
For the attached question:
Shouldn't the answer be E?
One evenly spaced set can be:
2,4,6
Another can be
4,6,8
Both have deviation of 2 around mean but second set has higher range.

Puzzling probability question
Attached is the probability question.
Shouldn't answer to this question be B?
There are two possibilities as I can see:
30/500 * 1/800 + 30/800 * 1/500
Thanks,
Swapnil

On the second thought, I still have doubt on explanation....

Is it C?
As C points out that there can be other causes for increase in bankruptcy.
If we negate C then it will weaken the argument.
C is not the best answer still but I can't see how A can be answer. If A can be answer then why not B?
