Amy, What about the age factor? Do you think, at 31, I have a chance at the top5? I am not interested in I-banking or Finance and would like to pursue an MBA in general management. Also, the round 1 deadlines are early October to November for almost all. Given this, would I better served applying to...

Please evaluate my profile
Stacy, What do you think about my profile and my chance of getting into a top10 school? Background Yes, I am yet another Indian engineering graduate. Graduated from a Regional Engg. university. I cannot convert grade into GPA but I was ranked in the top 15 (class of 70). Masters in Electrical Engine...

Badri, Have you done the entire 100 odd questions in the end in Quant? Or are you basing your opinion on a selected few? When people say that questions are difficult, it's just relative to the earlier ones. Only the last 75 or so in DS and 50 in PS can even be classified tough. But on the test, you'...

Congratulations on your score!
Can you post your scores in practice tests? I am especially interested in the MGCAT ones that you took in the last few weeks.
How did you find the Manhattan tests compared with the GMAT prep and the actual GMAT?
Thanks,
Nivas

Congrats on a great score! I was reading your post about your MGCAT scores a few weeks back. It's good to see that you did well on the actual test. I took 2 MGCATs in the last 2 weeks with scores of 680(q48,v34) & 700(q49,v36). I had a score of 710 on GPrep1 nearly a month ago. In some ways, you...

drhomler, Thanks for the advice. "FON1" - I'll try to use that. After reading the explanations, this is something I found out the hard way. For every inequality, its not enough to substitute random values but I need to test around the boundary. I also read a document today targeted towards...

Strategy to attack DS questions & general test-taking
Hi all, In the past few weeks of doing OG, I realized that I am weak at DS (especially inequalities & number properties). What can I do to improve myself on these kind of questions. I could always practice more Qs but I need a better approach & some tips on how to attack these areas. A summa...

I am confused now. I downloaded POWERPREP and it was an executable file for online tests.
The old paper tests I have a just software copies of old GMAT. Are you suggesting that I should take them or the POWERPREP?

Thanks, I found it. I also have some old paper tests with different number of questions, sections etc. Is it worth taking any of those?

Congratulations Manu!
You mentioned PowerPrep, where did you get it? I know GMAT Prep is ETS' own test software but this is the first I am hearing of PowerPrep.
Thanks

1. 1/x^2+6/x+9 =0 multiply all terms by x^2 1+6x+9x^2 = 0 factorizing, 9x^2 = 3x*3x 9x^2 + 3x + 3x + 1 = 0 (3x+1)^2 = 0 x = -1/3 2. x^2(x^4+2*x^2-35) = 0 x^2 = 0 gives x =0 as one root. solving for the other polynomial, you'll see -35*x^4 = 7*x^2 * -5*x^2 so, (x^2-5)(x^2+7) =0 x^2 =5 gives x = +/- r...

Ok, I think I know why. Assumption that r=3m is wrong. If m is negative, distance from 0 to r can still be 3 times distance from m to 0 i.e. r=3m or r = -3m.
Hence, combining (1) & (2) is still insufficient to find r.
