The answer is E.

First solve for x (2x and 3x form a line which is 190 degrees)
2x + 3x = 180
5x = 180
x = 36

Now solve for y (angles 2x and y +30 are equal)
2x = y + 30
2 (36) = y + 30
72 = y + 30
y = 42

the method i used to solve it was to add the following 1/99 (#2) 1/98 (#6, also decreasing the pool to 98 since 2 is no longer there) 1/97 (#67, also decreasing the pool to 98 since 2 & 6 are no longer there) 1/96 (#72, also decreasing the pool to 98 since 2,6, & 67 are no longer there) = 1/24

Another way to narrow between A & B is that "in their" are extra words that can be eliminated because it doesn't modify the scientists and historians.
