Guys,

Just gave the GMAT today for the third time and scored a 710! Q50, V36. :)
Its a huge relief. My earlier attempts had yielded a 650 and 680.
Its finally over and done with! Will write more details soon. Thanks to this forum where i learnt a lot!

Deciding how much effort to put into the question

Hi Guys, I had a question on how to decide on how much effort to put into a question in the middle of the exam. Here is the scenario, I am in the 22-26th question of Quant on the GMAT. I know I am doing ok, as the questions i see are of hard/ medium level. I have around 25-27 mins left with around 1...

Manhattan GMAT tests difficulty levels

Hey guys,

I purchased the online MGMAT tests.
I scored 640 on the free test and today, after a week, i gave test#2 of the MGMAT test. I again scored a 640.

Can anyone let me know the difficulty level of the MGMAT tests? Do they reflect the levels for the actual GMAT/ GMAT prep tests?

Hi Dana,
Do you have links to any online material which might be useful. I downloaded the LSAT CR and RC question set that you had uploaded in one of the other threads.
Anything else that can be useful will be very valuable for my preps.

Hi Stillhopeful, I am in a similar situation as you are in. My first 2 attempts have yielded scores of 650 and 680. But I need to get beyond 700 to have a fair chance at getting into the schools that i want to get into. I am planning a retake in the first week of November. Similar to you, i have don...

Thanks for your reply Dana. But the schools (ISB, NUS..) I am planning to apply to have the 80% range as 680-750+. I will be falling in the lower segment on all counts. So my take is that i would need a 720+ score to have a fair chance of making it. That is the reason for thinking about the third at...

GMAT 3rd Attempt?

Hey Folks, my scores on the first 2 attempts were 650 and 680. During practice for the second attempt, I scored 710 and 720 on the GMAT preps but still ended up not hitting the 700 mark on the actual test. Now i am thinking of giving it a third try. Do guys think it would be worth giving one? Can th...

Hey Jeff, This was my second attempt infact.
So, I just wanted to know people's opinion on whether a retake is required - for the third time.

I do believe that I need a 700+ score for the schools that i am applying to. But would taking the GMAT 3 times be held against me?

Ankit, I have a question on the third calculation. C) When a number is not repeated (1,2,3) (6,5,4) etc = 6!/(3!*3!) = 5 * 4 = 20 here since the order does not matter. The number i am getting is 10. if you consider (1,2,x) x can have 4 values. similarly, (1,3,x) x can have 3 values (1,4,x) x has 2 (...

I go with None of these. The answer i got is 24/ 625. Here is the logic i used - Total number of ways - 5^5 = 3125 As for the number of ways to arrange the 5 digits in the 5-digit number with only one digit repeated with two occurences - 11--- the rest of the numbers can be filled in 4*3*2=24 ways. ...

I go with 9500.

for the 20 points in straight line it 20C2, multiplied by 50 for the rest of the points not in the straight line.

so 20C2 * 50 = 9500.

Please post the answer and your logic.

the mistake freshy makes is that because (2/5)T = BM and T = M+F we can not assume (2/5)M + (2/5)F = BM It should be (2/5)(M+F) = (x)M + (y)F. From st 1: (x)M = (2/5)M which gives us (2/5)(M+F) = (2/5)M + (y)F but it is insufficient as it does not give a value for F However, we get to know that (y)F...
