Its a finance term meaning to write-off the debt outstanding to Chrysler. Basically the sentence means some investors accepted to write-down to 0 (assign a value of 0) to the debt they held in Chrysler, while other investors didn't.

My vote is for D

I think E is ambiguous in referencing the "not nearly as many as there were" ... does it refer to teachers or students?

Yup should be E

SD depends on number of items in the set as well as the mean and distribution of the numbers. Any 1 element set would have a 0 SD so by not knowing the number of numbers in each set, we can't conclude what the relative SD is,

Thank Tim,

Did you find that the GMATPrep score was pretty accurate indicator of your actual score? Seems like they are pretty accurate,

GMAT Prep Software Issue

Hi, I just took the first of the two official GMATPrep tests w/ GMAC's software. I skipped the essays and jumped right into Quant and went through the test. I did see the scores at the end and then went on to the review screen which shows correct/incorrect questions. Now when I go back into the appl...

MGMAT World Translation Question - Venn Diagrams

Hi All, I have a quick question on a problem that appears in the MGMAT Word Translation book around Venn Diagrams. (for reference it's on page 133 of the 3rd edition; Guide # 4): "Workers are grouped by their areas of expertise and are placed on at least one team. 20 workers are on the marketin...

I'm taking the Kaplan GMAT class so I was referring to the 9 CATs Kaplan offers online. I would assume these are similar to the ones in the book but not 100% sure

Kaplan CAT's Really Harder?

So I have heard people on this forum saying that Kaplan CAT's are harder than the actual test/other practice tests. I've had the opposite experience: I scored a dismal 630 on my first Kaplan CAT but have been getting 740, 770, 740 on the next three. I distinctly feel the tests are getting easier whi...

So think there is a typo in the question stem; i presume the equation given is x+y^2+3z>=0 is that right?

in that case, i agree it should be E

It is easy to come up with examples why B isn't sufficient and why C wouldn't be the right answer either

What is the OA?

It would have to be E if we can't assume the set is written in order but if it is written in order then shouldn't it be C?

presume <> means not equal

I would say:

I) not sufficient as it works for both x=0 and x=4
II) not sufficient as x can be any number but 3

together not sufficient because still x=0 and x=4 works

I would go with E

OA?

Yup Agreed, think it's C

Don't think i'm reading too much into II but it implies that (S+B) increased so as pointed, either S went up or B went up

OA?
