The online test is not adaptive, so the difficulty level does not increase as you move ahead.

I have no idea about how their scoring algorithm is, probably someome else can shed some light on it.

because the requirement needs to be for someone..

Someone has to do all of the above, without the word students, it will be a completely wrong sentence.

IMO C

Two things:

a) One the sentence uses the idiom From X to Y. Only C uses it correctly.

b) Answer choice B uses "Inhabitants had been forced to withdraw", which is not parallel with climate changed, pastures became deserts. Choice C uses parallelism correctly.
