I think D would be the right one.
The problem with A, according to me is this: Chances are that there are humorous observers who do not keep a journal but could have other means by which they could be heard by the next generation.

A: Is the chairman's own opinion of the individuals trying to seek control of the corporation, it *may* not be true.
D: Is something which is a fact that is known to all shareholders.
