statement says that 288 of them are men.
So, number of women is 300.

Regarding scoring on the test, none of us can answer your question on how it is done. GMAT Prep has given me 750 with 42 in verbal and 44 in verbal, both times with 49 in quant. I think you should shrug it off as a score that doesnt matter. Someone who is consistently scoring above 700 in mocks will at least 720 in the main exam.
