ok. the question is something like this.
in a 12 month period, max rainfall was 12.2mm and minimum rainfall was 2.2. The mean is 3.5. What is the median?
a)3.2
b) 3.6
c)4.0
d) 4.6

i am confuse too!! why can't you just do this x + |y| = 6. since Y is negative, you just put absolute value on Y. and are you saying this is a fact? |x| + |y| = |x + y| but i always thought when you put absolute values, it is like this |x +y| = -x-y or x + y but Y is negative, so it doesnt make sense
