Heres how I did it -

PP = 150$
SP= PP + Markup
SP= 150 + (40/100)[sp]
SP=150+0.4SP
0.6SP = 150

SP = 150/0.6 = 250

So, Gross profit =SP - PP = 250-150 =100 $

So, E is correct.

Correct ! Also, think about it this way 1- (1/160) = 159/160 and 1-(1/120) = 119/120 Now, 1. 119/120 is less than 1 2. If we add 40 to both numerator and denominator of 119/120 we get (119 + 40) / (120 +40) = 159/160. As a general rule, if a fraction is less than 1 and if we add the same positive nu...

Hey Jeff,

For the isosceles right triangle, the two equal sides are called as the legs i.e. 8 and 8 are your legs. I think the PDF needs to mention that its a right triangle and then the equation is valid.

Good catch though.

major political parties

We have heard a good deal in recent years about the declining importance of the two major political parties. It is the mass media, we are told, that decide the outcome of elections, not the power of the parties. But it is worth noting that no independent or third-party candidate has won any importan...
