Want simple explanation for this PS question on Ratios
The ratio of two positive numbers is 3 to 4. If k is added to each number the new ratio will be 4 to 5, and the sum of the numbers will be 117. What is the value of k?

Can we used the direct formula:
rates of r*rate of y/r+y
36*18/54=12 in 1 hr
so in 2 hrs 6 machines will be required.

Hi, I solved in a way mentioned underneath. No fo stamps be x.So as per given information it's in ratio k/a= 5x/3x. Now,as per que stem; 5x-10/3x+10=7/5 solving this we get x=30. I solved in this way.
Profit=Sp-Cp
Given: SP=80
Let CP=x
so profit =0.25 x(given)
therfore 0.25x=80-x
therefore 1.25x=80
so x=20
answer is B

Que:w/x=x/y=y/z
w/x=x/y
so w=x^2/y
x/y=y/z
so z=y^2/x
therefore w/z=x^3/y^3
w/x=x^2.x/y.y^2
so w/x=w.x^2/z
