A sequence generated by the rule that the kth term is k² +1 for each positive integer k . In this sequence, for any value of n >1, the value of the ( n +1)th term less the value of the nth term is a) 1 b) 3 c) n ² d) 2 n +1 e) n ²+1 The right answer is d). Could someone explain why? Please.

Is x/5 an integer?
Is x/5 an integer?
1) x/12.35 is an integer.
2) x/6,360 is an integer.
The solution says 2) alone is sufficient, but 1) alone is not sufficient.
I got the opposite… Could someone explain why? Please.
