Thank you Mitch. Source of the problem: http://www.regentsprep.org/regents/math/algtrig/ate2/abspractice.htm Practice website suggested on Gmatprepnow. Hi, Solve |2x+5|+4≥1 is the original question. Strange problem. Since an absolute value cannot be negative, |2x+5| ≥ 0. Thus, the least possible...

Hi,

Solve |2x+5|+4>=1 is the original question. Question is not tough to solve. But I have a doubt in second step,

|2x+5|>=-3. (|2x+5|can never be equal to -3.)

So, is the above statement valid?

Not a question but an intermediary step

Is |2x+5|>= -3 a valid statement?

It is mentioned in one of the questions answer.
If valid, why? Can |2x+5| be equal to -3?

Regards,

Sushant

0.99999999/1.0001 - 0.99999991/1.0003 = A. 10^-8 B. 3(10^-8) C. 3(10^-4) D. 2(10^-4) E. 10^-4 Another approach is to recognize that both 9999.9999 and 9999.9991 can be rewritten as differences of squares . First, 0.99999999 = 1 - 0.00000001 = (1 - 0.0001)(1 + 0.0001) Similarly, 9999.9991 = 1 - 0.00...

Alternative method for this sum?

0.99999999/1.0001-0.99999991/1.0003= A. 10^-8 B. 3 (10^-8) C. 3(10^-4) D. 2(10^-4) E. 10^-4 Following is my approach, but have done some approximation. Question = (99999999/10001- 99999991/10003)*10^-4 (Let # = 99999999 or 99999991= 10^8) =(#/10001-#/10003)*10^-4 =#( 1/10001-1/10003)*10^-4 =#{(10003...

What is the value of w^-2? 1. w^-1 = 1/2 2. w^8 = 8 Required: w^-2 Statement 1: w^-1 = 1/2 Or 1/w = 1/2 Hence w = 2 and we can find w^-2 easily. No need to solve further Sufficient Statement 2: w^8 = 8 Hence (w^2) = 8^(1/4) = ∜8 Therefore w^(-2) = 1/∜8 Sufficient Correct Option: D Sushant, can ...

x > y^2 > z^4 Considering x > y^2 this implies x>y or x<y Similarly.. y^2 > z^4 ==> y > z^2 ==> y>z or z>y Also, x > z^4 ==> x > z^2 or x < z^2 ===> x > z or x < z or x < z or x > z So, I, II and III How did you get the following? Considering x > y^2 this implies x>y or x<y Pls explain this, it may...

A very easy method is to first simplify the concentrate hitch.

1 can juice con + 3 can water = 48 ounce juice
Total juice req= 1200ounce

if 48ounce - 1 can concentrate
then for 1200 ounce -1200/48= 25
thus ans 25 cans of concentrate
