I hope that the answer is C, per Ajith. I translate what is given to the following: -The first statement says that the dividend is paid once a year. -The second statement says that the dividend is 25% of the share. Seems to me we can then calculate how much is earned from dividend. What is the OA?

Ok, maybe it is A after all. Let's just say that S0laris made me look into this problem deeper. I still do not agree with all his points, however. I have my test tomorrow, so I am on top of this one. I started by looking at the difference between "where once" and "while once" The...

I would have selected D. Yes, the acquiescence happened before, but it is pretty clear from the sentence already, and I think therefore it does not need to be emphasized anymore. I also think it is ok to use the prepostional construction in D, especially when the subject is a live animated thing, he...

Good discussion. I will add the following: "a noun preceding a gerund must be in the possessive case if the noun is the doer of the action described by the gerund" btw - this did not come from me - but I am following it :-) Here, "burning" is a gerund and "human beings"...

OA is C, according to the version of the test I have. I also first thought it was A, but looking at it again, in A, that whole part of the sentence following the comma makes a non-essential phrase. In C you can clearly see the difference between that part that is not essential and that part that is ...

The part I stumbled on in this question is that nowhere does it say that the prime numbers need to be unique. I guess it can be somewhat inferred, but I was thinking what if all the prime numbers are all the same, who knows what p can ever be?

Nevermind my previous comment. I get it now. I just put "fundamentally important areas" between brackets and the remaining construction is "such as", the proper construction to introduce examples, which is what happens here. Like is always wrong when used for examples.

circular permutation

Find the number of ways in which five persons can sit around a circular table, when two of the persons insist on sitting next to each other?

I went as far as drawing all the combinations and I reached at 10, but the answer is aparantly 12. Can anyone explain?

The answer is E, also because I have the answer. I followed the same route as pepeprepa, however, pepeprepa's conclusion is not correct. First of all because 7/15 is not > 1/2 but less than 1/2. I actually think that the maximum number of men can be three and thus there would be seven women. But the...

I am all for KISS, now worries there mate...I think in this case we are all getting a bit too excited, as it takes far more time to respond to these questions from others and to respond again like this. While I am not entirely understanding the way you approached it, my approach really did not take ...

codesnooker is right on, but if anyone is interested in a little bit of calculations... The question is about permutations. In how many ways can we create a 4 character code and a 5 character code. The formula for permutation (P) is: P(n,k)= n!/(n-k)! (and if anyone is interested in any relationship...

Something does not appear to be correct to me. 4C4 is not 24, 4C4 = 1. Seems to me we need to use permutations here. The remaining 4 mobsters can be arranged in 4 different ways over those remaining 4 open positions in 4! = 24 ways. Rest seems ok...
