Since 12 is divisible by 6, it follows that 12d can be divisible by 6 for any number d.
Try plugging in values if you are still stuck. i.e - d = 7. 12*7 / 6 = 2 * 7 = 14.

My 2 cents: Studies have shown that taking the GMAT each successive time will not drastically improve your score unless you really study and master the fundamentals of it. To me it sounds like you are rushing to get your app in ASAP, leaving you little time to prepare for it. Your gpa is also lower ...

thanks for the compliment, however I only have the 690 and the 6 I am taking it again tomorrow, and just want to jump into the math section, because I remember last time I concentrated pretty hard core on the AWAs which did not leave me as fresh as I would like to be for the actual test. good luck!

I think they just take your highest numeric grade. I wouldn't worry too much about the writing, that should be evident in your essays. Nice score!

Thanks Lisa, I appreciate your prompt reply! I didn't mention that I graduated a year early (I'm 23), would have 3 years experience by matriculation in finance-related jobs. Not sure if I'm too young to apply - debating whether to postpone until next year (ED) or apply RD now. Any advice?

My verbal scores on GMATPrep1 and 2 were ~ 38-39, so was a bit bummed by my score. I felt the verbal was more difficult on the real exam as the passages seemed a little longer. RC required more logical reasoning in the answers than just purely finding the answer in the passage. SC seemed very simila...

November Rain, Welcome! Reading through the forums, many admissions consultants have uncovered that there is little difference between Round 1 and 2, and schools do not give any reason to believe otherwise. Historically, the percentage has been slightly higher statistically, but it isn't meaningful....

I don't think so. I know students who applied on the deadline and took GMAT 2 days before. They just update the GMAT score in the application, and when the adcoms review your application, they check the reported score in their system.

Hi Lisa, My background is similar to the poster above me in that I also have 3.1 gpa (Ivy engineering) and 700 GMAT (Q50 V34). I worry if I should retake the GMAT as the verbal score isn't so high (would be my third time at GMAT). Do b-schools look more favorably at the quant, verbal, or overall sco...

The reason they say (a-b)(a+b) is (-1)(25) is because that is the only possibility you get when a and b are positive integers. To get -5 and +5, then a = 0 and b = -5, but a cant be 0 since they tell you it has to be a positive integer.
