Once you calculate that (35/36)^n<(1/2) , just log both sides
log((35/36)^n)<log(0.5) -->
n*log(35/36)<log(0.5) -->
n<(log0.5)/(log35/36) -->
n<log(0.5/(35/36)) -->
n<log(18/35) --> The answer
Note: GMAT does not require log. It is not a GMAT question!

Not sure whether the post above (picking a number) is necessarily the best and most efficient solution. Here is a general solution - no picking numbers where any mistakes could happen. The general formula that we can write as soon as we read: 0.01x+0.02y+0.03z=0.015(x+y+z) /lets multiply everything ...

Re: gmat prep
If X is a positive integer, what is the Least common multiple of X, 6, 9 1. the least common mulitple of x and 6 is 30 2. the least common multiple of x and 9 is 45 the OA is D but i got it to be C because I thought X could be either 5 or 15. someone help? I actually got the same answer for the sam...

Re: price of sweater
help Purchase Price= X Selling Price = X+$30 Lets check #1. Rev = 270 = Selling Price * Quantity (n) 270 = (X+30)*n >>> there are two unknown in one equation. Hence, #1 is alone INSUFF. Lets check #2. Selling Price = X + 50% X = 3/2*X 3/2*X=X+30 ---> x= $60 per sweater. But we still do not know how...

I am sorry but I still can explain myself how you go to A or D. I am ok that if you know A by itself you have 50:50 to get A or D :D but only with the set 6-18 you cannot be sure A by itself is sufficient given you can have OTHER sets with a different number of primes like those I posted (if I am r...

I am ok for the time but it is important to look at what the question asks be it a DS or not! It is possible that two sets respect all conditions but have a different number of primes. Anyway, it's true that timing is short for this one if you do not find the spirit as we do not. I think I would ha...

I don't follow how you state that 1) is right for example. Did I miss something in the question? 6 to 18 We have 3 multiples of 6 and 2 multiples of 5 which are also multiples of either 2 or 3. We have primes: 7,11,13,17 --> 4 primes 42 to 54 We have 3 multiples of 6 and 2 multiples of 5 which are ...

here is the solution!
NOTE: This is not the correct solution! Lets look at #1 only. (REVISED to make it easier to read!) 6…10…12…15…18… --- an example that supports #1. 6, 12, 18 -- three #s in the sequence that are divisible by 6. 10, 15 are two multiples of 5 and divisible by either 2 or 3. >>> A or D (at least 50:50 c...
