Here " the wolf" refers to the species and not an individual organism or a pack of wolves. When referring to the wolf as species, the noun in singular.
eg: Tiger is an endangered species. We do not say, Tigers are an endangered species.
Hope it is clear.

This can be solved without any calculations with just mental maths.
the initial ratio of boarders to day scholars is 7:16 and no.of boarders is 560
to make it 7:16 to 1/2 is same as making 7:16 to 8:16. so 560=7*x, x=80, we need to make it 8*x=640
640-560=80

Its simple. the coefficient of 'x' in the question is 1. so (x+5y), (5x -y) cannot be multiplied with any of the other options, so that leaves only one combination, (x+y) * (x-y). Since there are 4 items, there are 4C2 ways of choosing the outcomes. i.e 6 ways. so answer is 1/6. hope it makes sense.

The second is straight forward.
there are 5 pies and 6 cakes
total of 5 items selected out of 11, 3 of which are pies, implies are 2 cakes.
so the probability is = 5c3 * 6c2
----------- = 150/462 = 25/77

For the first question: no less than 1 blue disk means, it cannot be zero no more than 3 means, it canot be all four. P( zero blue) = (3/4)* (3/4)*(3/4)*(3/4) because 75/100 is 3/4 P(all 4 bue) = (25/100)^4 required probability is = 1 - [ (3/4)^4 * (1/4)^4 = 1 - [ (81/256 + 1/256) ] = 1 - [ 82 /256 ...

One hour per day is tight.. mostly I also got no more than an hour a day.. My advise would be, be really focused, and set targets for that on hour, like 15 SC, 3-4 RCs or 20 quant and 15 CRs. and then take the mock tests every weekend. thats would be my advice.

I couldn't understand your question.. But to answer whatever I understood, I don't know how IELTS score can help decide how prepared you are for GMAT.. those two are completely different and independent. I'd suggest you take a sample GMAT test and see how much you score.

There are situations when n*(n+1)*(n+2), (1) when two of the numbers are multiples of 2 & 4 n(n+2) is always a multiple of 8 for all even values of n. So there are 48 even numbers between, 0&96, (2) when one of the three numbers is a multiple of 8 if n=7,15,23,31 ... then (n+1) will be a mul...

For any even number n, n(n+2) will always be divisible by 8. This is because, either one of n or (n+2) will always be a multiple of 4. Therefore we just need to find the probability of n being a even number. 48/96. Also in case n is 7,15 or 23, then n+1 becomes a multiple of 8, so we have to count a...

Tap 1 fills the tank in 1.5 hours = 90 mins. In one minute its fills 1/90 of the tank
Tap 2 fills X times as Tap 1, so fills X/90 of the tank in 1 minute.
together they take 15 minutes.
1/90 + X/90 = 1/15
=> X=5

In all there are 55 balls. 1 ball of colour1, 2 balls of colour2 and so on.. To absolutely ensure we take out 5 colours, we must ensured that colours that have the maximum representation are takn out first. 10+9+8+7=34 contain 4 colours. So if we just draw out one more ball, we can be sure it'll be ...

JamesDarden13, Your approach is fine. In fact, I'd say in most cases its preferable. It may be a good idea to take the GMAT immediately after UG, before starting work. For one, like you said, you may b busy and not find time for studying later once you start working and also immediately after UG, yo...
