Guys - firstly, thank you SO MUCH for answering my questions. It's immensely helpful. David: I did not recognize any of the questions. Rich: I have not yet reviewed the exam, but plan on doing so, in its entirety, tonight. I was definitely not 100% sure about every answer, and won't he surprised of ...

760 on Official GMAT practice test???
So I just took my first full-length (as in, with AWA and IR sections as well as the Q AND V sections) practice test this afternoon in anticipation of my test actual that's scheduled for this Saturday. It was a bit more exhausting than I expected it to be - by the last few problems of the verbal sect...

So I get that "group" goes either way, and that we would say "a large percentage of animals ARE". Thank you very much for the explanation. A follow-up question I have has to do with which noun becomes the subject of the verb "to be". If we say "a large percentage o...

An Essay Review would be much appreciated!
The following appeared as part of an article in a magazine devoted to regional life: “Corporations should look to the city of Helios when seeking new business opportunities or a new location. Even in the recent recession, Helios’s unemployment rate was lower than the regional average. It is the ...

Extra Time?
Hello - I was advised on a different section of these forums that this question would be better fitting over here. So I've never been diagnosed with any medical condition recognized by the GMAC (I've never been to a doctor for a diagnosis), but I do think I might have some sort of ADD based on what ...

Extra Time?
So I've never been diagnosed with any medical condition recognized by the GMAC (but I've never been to a doctor for a diagnosis), but I do think I might have some sort of ADD based on what I've read online. What's the best way to go about seeing a doctor that could evaluate me to let me know if I qu...

Tough Ratio Question
The ratio of boarders to day scholars at a school is 7 to 16. However, after a few new students join the initial 560 boarders, the ratio changed to 1 to 2, respectively. If no boarders became day scholars and vice versa, and no students left the school, how many boarders joined the school? A) 48 B) ...

Best RC Strategy?
The Economist tutor suggests doing an "initial" reading of the text, and then either just answering the question with that, or searching further for the specific answer, but never actually reading the entire texts. Has anyone had experience using the "initial reading" method succ...

I understand that, but what makes it confusing is, as mentioned, the word "group" in the same sentence would always be singular, but it follows that exact same logic. Yes, in both cases, it's "the animals" that are carrying out the verb, but in one you can say "A group [of n...

Percentage of IS or ARE?
"A large percentage of animals [IS or ARE] going to migrate south for winter."
Which is it? And why? I know if it were "A group" instead of "A large percentage" it would be singular.
Thanks,
SRFN

"Inference" questions - MUST be true?
I remember from my Knewton course the instructors saying that the answer to an inference question on in the CR section (or reading comp. for that matter) will always be something that MUST be true. Is that the case? I'm now using the Economist course, and there was a practice question that went some...

Apologies for the misnomer, and thank you very much to both of you for taking the time to help. It's much appreciated! I took a look at my results on my latest CAT, and it doesn't appear that my issues lie within the DS category of questions. Going through each question one by one, most of my wrong ...
