Veritas has an advanced math book on their website. It covers probability. I would add that probability is only one of the topics covered but it seems to do a really good job.

I've noticed that my LSAT experience has helped me with CR and RC questions. The LSAT's logical reasoning questions are actually tougher than CR questions, at least from my perspective.

Still, you want to drill for the actual test you're taking.

It's just a way of checking; it's a computer script that counts the numbers that don't have eight in them.

I solved it using the same method as sudhir3127. 9 out of ten numbers will "survive" the test, per digit -- and four digits are tested, so it's 9^4.

By factors of 42, I take that literally: 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 14, 21, 42. At least these factors. I (also) first ran across this type of problem in a Princeton Review book, so credit to those guys. Question, simply: If KL has the factors of 154, it must be a multiple of 154. They've given us 11. All we ne...

They say the questions are taken directly from past GMATs. At the same time, it's a CAT and so the questions are being drawn from a pretty large base. I didn't see repeat questions; I've gone through GMATPrep but haven't dug deep into the OG like some of you, so you might notice a few repeats that I...

Sheet of paper. We're looking for: ARMprofit ________ (divided by) COFFEEprofit where ARMprofit = ARMretail - ARMwhole and COFFEEprofit = COFFEEretail - COFFEEwhole (1) and (2) give us certain variables but don't deliver by themselves, so let's try putting them together. (1) tells us that ARMwhole =...

Since it's a data sufficiency question, we only need to figure out "a" and "b." In this specific question, we don't even need to simplify that equation in the stem. (2) might strike people as "the complicated one." ab = -10 and we already know ab^2 = 50. Compare ab^2 an...

It has 24 questions (it's a diagnostic), and it's $65 for three tests or $25 for just one. It's great; I'd suggest you buy the set of three.

You're asking the right questions. I'd say "the big orange book" is a good place to start, the OG11. For the math section, I'd recommend using GMAT Focus online. It's really helpful; I'm surprised people haven't made more noise about it.

I agree with drizzle's answer and method. I scribbled a quick list of each basic color-size pair ("blue green yellow pink blue-D green-D yellow-D pink-D) to help myself think. You have to know the combinations formula for this question: 4C3 = 4!/(3!)(4-3)! = 4. Btw Veritas has a nice nice book ...

smclean: 10^8 - 10^2 does not equal 10^6. You've just divided instead of subtracted :) To demonstrate: 10^8 - 10^2 = 100000000 - 100 = 99999900. whereas 10^8 divided by 10^2 = 100000000 / 100 = 1000000, or 10^6. What you want to do instead is factor the exponents of 10 ("pull out the tens").

This question is awesome. Best way to approach it: first, draw one 3-D box to give yourself an idea of what you're looking at and label the edges according to length. Write the formula for the volume of the cylinder: V = Length * PI * radius^2 From the formula, you'll see that increasing the radius ...

Kaplan has a diagnostic test / book they sell at Borders. I took the verbal section yesterday and scored a 31. I've been ranging 39-42 on other verbal sections I've taken recently. The specific area where I was making more mistakes than usual is the reading comprehension. To answer your question, I ...

I just took the math section of the Veritas practice test. I'll get to the point. The practice section I just took was a joke. Many of the questions were easy, to the point where I was able to do some of the math questions in my head. The questions on the actual GMAT will be much more difficult. Som...
