i see naruto. here's my question though - say in 1) we arbitrarily square the whole string, so we get x^2/9 + 4/y^2 = 36 so we add the stem and this result to get 2(x^2/9) = 36 (x^2) = 2 so x = + or - 1.41 the same issue happens if you square statement 2. where did i go wrong? it doesnt say anywhere...

Equations
If x^2/9 – 4/y^2 = 12, what is the value of x?
(1) x/3 + 2/y = 6
(2) x/3 – 2/y = 2
Those blobs stand for negative

naval, quick q on this part - 1+2 X+1 = x^2+1……………or x = x^2 at this point, i test x = 1 or x = 0 as both meet that rule. so to determine xy, if x = 0, then xy = 0. if x = 1, then y is 2. since we get 2 values for xy, i chose E. your method looks to be in line though so could you tell me w...

i believe this would be C himanshu. 'it' needs a valid reference and the stem fails in that sense.
C comes close, but in order for C t obe correct, the comma needs to be a semicolon, because a comma can't join two independent clauses.

A sounds the best to me vs. E.
this one is tricky man!
EDIT - missed the "the" in A. this is incorrect for parallelism purposes. E wins.

D was a close one for me, but i interpreted statistical evidence to mean say the # of X planes that crashed. C is wrong because the manufacturer never directly revokes the regulator's premises.

i got C 3 * 3 = 9 2) clearly insufficient as different values of y can yield different units valeus for n 1) x and y could be 1 and 6 2 and 5 3 and 4 3 * 3 * 1 * 6 = _ 4 3 * 3 * 2 * 5 = _ 0 3 * 3 * 3 * 4 = _ 8 so n could have either 4, 0, or 8 as units digits. insufficient. 1) and 2) together ensure...
