Timing / Verbal

First of all, work on a timing strategy. If you look at my debrief post, you will see an outline for a decent timing strategy to keep you on track. Secondly, I do not think you should try to implement everything in the MGMAT SC book. Pick the top 3 most important things and focus on those e.g. subje...

Make sure you have a timing strategy

If you take the 2 GMAT Prep exams in the next 6 days and figure out a good timing strategy, I think that your score will translate into about a 670-690 on the actual GMAT.

How do you come up with 300-400k? For an ivey league US MBA the napking calculation goes as follows: 1) 100k tuition 2) cost of living is close to nil since you would incur to roughly the same amount if you were working. 3) 15k after tax summer internship income Net cost 85k USD This leaves your af...

MBA & Economy

Ever since the economy got worse, I have been questioning my decision to get an MBA in Jan 2010. Due to the amount of people being laid off and how many of those people currently have MBAs or are now going to get an MBA, I have decided to put off going to school and stay happy with the fact that I h...

Re: Gmat scores

Good job mgross! You really cracked GMAT :) I have one question. How long after you take the Gmat, will the scores be sent to your chosen universities? Thanks a lot! And wish me luck;) Hi Lmircea1, You know, I'm not really sure how long it takes for them to send the scores. However, I do not think ...

Re: a question

Can you suggest any place to practice tough RCs? I would like to practice tough RCs so that I can get my speed up to a decent level. RC is so far my strong point but I take a lot of time in reading and understanding the passage. I would like to practice tough RCs so that I can increase my speed on ...

QUESTION - >> You mentioned the GMAT Prep Quiz bank. How do you identify your weaknesses on verbal questions exactly? If I do a sample exam in the quiz bank, does it detail out which section sI ned to focus on? What about for the quant? I'd rather buy the quiz bank knowing that I'm going to be focu...

Re-score

Moderators can we have this thread as another sticky one ?? Mgross, you got an AWA score which is good enough. Don't loose sleep over this as you have a strong gmat score. IMO taking a re-take just for improving AWA score from 4.5 is not a great idea. However you can always opt for a re-score if yo...

mgross, 760 speaks for itself! Don't worry about the AWA - I just had a 1-on-1 conversation with UCLA Adcom and he told me that AWA is just a check up to see if somebody actually wrote their essays. So in your case - you are fine bro! Just dont apply with Essays that could be rated 4.5! Hi emraherc...

Re: RC Material

Hi mgross, Brilliant score!! I was toggling with the idea of giving GMAT since quite sometime, but just a week back i took an Oct end date. So, i have two months with me to prepare. In the diagnostic test which i gave, i did pretty well in QA (49) but sufferred badly in verbal (34) and the main rea...

Response to tycoon_316

Hi tycoon_316, Firstly, you are absolutely correct in your self-assessment. Your Quant is great and therefore, I believe you have the potential to get a 720 and above. I do agree with you that on the actual GMAT, I did receive a very hard RC passage. It was short, but extremely tough to follow. It w...

Response to madeline

Hi Madeline, Firstly, you are right, Canadians do rock! With respect to my 4.5, you are right in that I've heard it will not carry much weight; I am no longer too worried about it and probably won't even get it re-scored (although I would be much happier with a 5). Based on what I've heard, I am def...

Hi Lisa,

Thank you so much. Your opinion helps and calmed me down about it quite a bit. I appreciate the help.
