That's a good advice, but you don't need to fit any profile, and such misfit should not prevent you from applying. Sometimes candidates with unique backgrounds have the advantage in this admission game... this is not exact science.

The best advice is probably to dig deep and find an honest answer to why b-school or why MBA. You can't go wrong with a good honest answer!

You should follow the school's instructions - some schools specifically ask you to provide a recommendation from your current supervisor, or to explain if you can't.
