Hello Vanessa and Zakatala. Looks like I'm in the same boat as both of you. I'm a lawyer in Canada and have been practicing commercial litigation for 3 about years at one of the big national firms. I'm seeing more and more young lawyers getting out of private practice, and even a few doing MBAs! Jus...

Hi Lisa, So I wrote the GMAT this week and scored a 630. The problem is that i scored a 97th percentile (44) on the verbal but a 36th (32) on the quant. There was a computer network problem during the quant portion of the exam and GMAC has offered me a free rewrite, but not until next month; but giv...

Do you think its worth redoing? I figure if I redo it, my verbal score is unlikely to change as I got a 97th percentile. As for the quant, which has always been weak, i imagine I could go from a 32 to maybe 35 or 36, which would bring me to about 650 instead of the 630 that I scored. The school wher...

Computer Crashed on test day - Q32 V44 (630)
I wrote the GMAT yesterday morning. The AWA went smoothly, took a short break and then started the Quant. About 30 minutes into the section, the computer network CRASHED and the computer froze up. It took about 20 minutes or so for the staff to fix the system, and then when it came back online I had...

Thanks! But I'm still a little confused.
I can see that it's a weighted average. I see that one group has an average weight of 74.5 inches and the other 70 inches. But I don't know what the weighting is. Where does the 2(n/3) come from?

Square root of squares ...
If X<0 then sq rt of -X \x\ is (note: \x\ is absolute value of x, not sure how to make the propoer symbol.) I thought the answer was X. X is negative and it asks for the sq rt of -X, so -(-X) is X. And X times the absolute value of X is X*X which is X^2, and the sq rt of that is X. But it tells me t...

THanks, Simplyjat.
I'm still trying to figure out how to work with these problems, and with the equation y=mx+b.
Am i correct to just plug in one of those coordianates into the equation and then solve for b?

Coordinate Geomatry
In the XY-coordinate plane, the slope of line l is 3/4. Does line l pass through the point (-2/3, 1/2)? 1) Line l passes through the point (4,4) 2) Line l passes through the the point (-4, -2) I know that the answer is C because there is sufficient information to figure out the entire line. I just h...

DS Explanation is confusing me!
If a and b are positive integers, is 2 (Sq.rt of a+b) > 4(sq.rt of b)? 1) b > 3a 2) a + b > 3 The answer explanation says that i should simplify the problem by dividing by 2 and then to square both sides to get a + b > 4b. However, I had always thought that if you divide one side by 2, you would nee...

Thanks so much, Lisa. I have already spoken to the school and explained my situation, and they have told me that an early May application will be fine. Unfortunately, though, given my work schedule it is highly unlikely I'll be able to travel to the school on a weekday for a visit. That said, if the...
