math difficulty level

hey guys just wanted to ask a very general questions, I hope this is the correct forum to post it in, but I was going through the OG quant review, and found that the first 80 questions were quite easy (barring a few difficult ones of course). However, the next 70 questions seem to be much more diffi...

can I multiply 22.24, since they are the highest integers, and then factorize? Or will I be violating a principle doing that?

great question. Spend a lot of time doing it, and wasnt getting the right answer, used the double matrix but there was something missing. Then I realized I was being very stupid and not taking out the percentage of the non tired- it says 70 percent- so its 70% of 20% of 100! Got 14, and then added t...

For every even positive integer m,f(m)represents the product of all even integers from 2 to m inclusive. for example f(12)= 2.4.6.8.10.12 What is the greatest prime factor of f(24) I got the correct answer but my working was different. Any ideas if there is more than one correct way of answering this?

I can relate to you. I am decent to good at verbal, but my quant is pretty below average. however after visiting this website, and reading some of the stories, I really think its not a big deal to crack the GMAT. There are a few stories where people with horrible math skills aced the GMAT. They are ...

hey Brent

thanks for the answer- I got till the part where I took out the prime factors and concluded that z has the same factors as 340. However, I dont understand how 17 is the least possible value of z.

Shoudnt 2 be the least possible value? Considering its the smallest number.

Hey great reply..

I have one question;

Cant the elements in a set adding up to 21 be another combination?

Example- 10+5+6?

It still adds up to 21, and its three distinct elements.

Is that a possibility?
And if we take that to be the case, then statement 2 wont be sufficient?

Thanks!

Let's try it. Target question: is x^y < 0 Statement 1: Y=2 We know that x^2 > 0 for all values of x. Given this, we can conclude that x^y is definitely not less than 0 Since we can answer the target question with certainty, statement 1 is SUFFICIENT Ok great! I have one little querry though, I thoug...

Hey Brent, thanks for the solution will the answer remain the same if the question is reversed, that is; Is x^y < 0? y = 2. x is an integer. I had chosen answer C- Both statements together. Thanks for your reply. However, Veritas had marked the answer as A. Thats why I was confused. This is their an...

Ive got to say this story was extremely inspirational! I have a similar case and it gives me hope I can do something. My verbal is remarkably better than my quant so I am not spending too much time on that right now, but I am really getting to the basics in quant. I bought the MGMAT books, and the n...

You are spot on here, I make ridiculous mistakes on the DS sometimes, like not reading the entire questions, missing out on a key word etc. My problem solving skills are much better- I am not great at them but the initial prep test I took, I got 70-80 percent of the problem solving questions correct...

Thanks for the extremely helpful reply Steven. I have a decent understanding of how to answer the DS questions, I am not looking to "solve" them, but I think I have weak concepts which prevents solid reasoning when answering some of the questions. I am working through the Kaplan math workb...
