Tense shift: was....has been

When there is a shift in tense, it is important to have a justification for it. The sentence does hot indicate an existing condition, change or unfinished action --has been.

was....was --keep the tenses parallel--usually avoid shift in tenses

I would go with E because the correct idiom is "x arising from ...and y arising from ..."; we need the plural costs because of "and" ; this conjunction most of the time indicates a plural.

If you look at the answers themselves, none have a parallel structre except E. So you have: the federal rules aimed (simple past) ...were established (simple past) to ensure that patients would be (in the future)...and independent panel would evaluate (in the future)... I tend to go with B because the ice sheets existed first and then Louis was led to propose the concept. I believe that the past perfect is appropriate.

Hi,

Because it is a percent question, I usually use the formula P(a)+P(b)-P(ab).
So we have 30+25-13 (Physics, English, Both). We have 42 stdunetns that are Not enrolled in BOTH. (42/90)=.4667

will...certainly have departed

I agree with the explanation for the first Q, but I do not agree with the second one. Verbs of certainity go before the main verb, after the verb to be, and betwen any type of auxiliary verbs: I (surely, certainly, probably) know. I am probably confused. You are surely there, arn't you? I will proba...
