The reasoning is flawed because the statement says "THIS DEMONSTRATES THAT EVERY EFFORT AT SOCIETAL BETTERMENT MERELY SERVES TO CONCEAL SOME PRIVATE CRIME. "

Hope that helps :)

IMO the answer is [C] .. both together sufficient. Explanation- Is y^x > x^y? .. (i) from 1) x = y power 2 => x = y^2 substituting this in (i) y^(y^2) > y^(2y) ? for this to be true.. y>1 & y^2 > 2y =>y>2 This is an information supplied by 2) 2) y > 2 Thus, both together are sufficient!!

The answer for this one is 250 miles, and an easy way to solve this is as follows- Since the trains move in opposite directions their relative speed is = 30+90 = 120 Lets take Washington as the reference point When they meet first time, total distance traveled = 500 mi Distance traveled by train A =...

Its [E] 45..

Here is how my thought process goes-

s/t = 64.12
=> s = 64t + 0.12t

Here 64 is the quotient and 0.12t is the remainder.

0.12t => 3*t/75 => 3*(t/75)

Thus remainder is a multiple of 3, hence option [E] is the only choice possible!!

Clearly the answer is
6 [C]
Explanation

A B
+ C
+ D
+ E
_____

A F
_____
Since A is left unaltered we can conclude that the carry part of addition is 0
=> B+C+D+E <=9
For max C and different BCDEA we have

0+1+2+C = 9
=> C = 6

Hope it helps!!

IMO
[A]
Here is the explanation-

(1) 3x = 2y
since y is +ve, x must be +ve
y =x + 1/2*x
=> y = x + a positive number
=> y > x hence sufficient
(2) x + y = 5
x= 3, y=2 also satisfies this thus not sufficient

Hence
[A]
Hi usfall13ivy, The correct answer is

f(x) = 6x^2 + x -1 =>(2x+1)(3x-1) Now from (1) x(x+3) = 0 This is satisfied when x = 0 and x = -3 for x=0, f(x) = -1; for x=-3, f(x) = 50 hence, no unique value.. NOT sufficient From (2) x = -3 => f(x) = 50 Unique value therefore sufficient ...

Hi klmehta03,

Your answer is correct but explanation is wrong.

IMO
[E]
..

From question-
Q =100/A and
R= 100/B

Since A and B are single digits possible values are-
1, 2, 4, 5

Thus, option
[E]
is correct one.

Hope it helps!!

If x is a prime number greater than 5, y is a positive integer, and 5y=x^2+x, then y must be divisible by which of the following? A) 5 B) 2x C) x+1 (Note: more than one statement can be true) IMO its B .. Here is the explanation- y = (x^2+x)/5 = x(x+1)/5 Now since x is a prime greater than 5 and y ...
