Sum of x times 7 and y times 77 gives a number whose unit can be 4, 1, 8, 5, 2, 9, 6, 3, 0. The unit will be 0 only if x+y = 10 (which is n the same as n). So to get 350, n must be a multiple of 10, hence the only acceptable solution is 40. Answer C) Please correct me if the above reasoning is wrong.

From the statement:
Z > ((10+x)/2)

From 2)
5x > ((10+x)/2) -> 10x > 10+x -> x > 10/9
That is not true as we only know that x > 0

Does the above make sense? Can we eliminate 2) base on that?

Thanks.

As we don't know the sign of the variables we cannot divide/multiply.

But can we do this?:

(X-Y-X-Y)/(X+Y) > 0

-2Y/(X+Y) > 0

Thanks.

I simplified the inequality in the statement: 1/p > r/(r^2+2) 1/p - r/(r^2+2) > 0 (r^2+2-rp)/(p(r^2+2)) > 0 (r(r-p)+2)/(p(r^2+2)) > 0 ------------- 2) we only know that r/(r^2+2) is positive, nothing else -> INS...
