scoring algorithm

by cooldude » Mon May 21, 2007 10:36 pm
hello stacy

stacy i recntly took gmat and scored a 680 49q and 33 v

now here is my question about scoring process

in real gmat and in a gmatprep test
i got starting three questions non rc and 4 5 6 questions as an rc

in gmat prep,i did 1 and 2 question wrong but rc was ok it was a 60-70 line passage

however,on real gmat, the rc was so easy a very short passage; now eaasy question always follow errors;but dont u think its a bit diff algorithm overall i mean even if i suppose i did all 3 start questions incorrect on gmat, the rc on gmat was easier than rc on gmatprep{on which i did starting 2 questions incorrect } ?

wat could be up with all this? :?

regards

Easy questions don't always follow errors. As a general rule, you will get easier questions as you make errors, yes, but it's not an absolutely rigid algorithm. Also, there are experimental questions, which do not follow the flow of your score. Finally, within RC passages, there is some limitation as to what they can give you b/c there are only a limited number of questions written for any given passage - and they have to give you 3-4 questions from that passage.

It's the experimental items which keeps thier algorithm secret otherwise (I or ) any GMAT prep company would have cracked the code.

btw your score is not that bad that you posted it in losers section.
