A.the sandpipers vanishing in the northeastern United States is a result of residential and industrial development and of changes in
B.the bird itself is vanishing in the northeastern United States as a result of residential and industrial development and of changes in
C.that the birds themselves are vanishing in the northeastern United States is due to residential and industrial development and changes to
D.in the northeastern United States, sandpipers’ vanishing is due to residential and industrial development and to changes in
E.in the northeastern United States, the sandpipers’ vanishing, a result of residential and industrial development and changing

IMO A

maintains ||ism in the use of "is a result of.. and of.. "

in B i find bird itself.. a lil awkward..

I found B the closest option to a correct answer..

A.the sandpipers vanishing in the northeastern United States is a result of residential and industrial development and of changes in- Like the grassy fields and old pastures, the sandpipers vanishing is wrong because 1) an apostrophe is needed ‘’sandpipers’ vanishing’’ 2) compares grassy fields and old pastures with sandpipers’ vanishing . Two side must be logically paralel. Out-
B.the bird itself is vanishing in the northeastern United States as a result of residential and industrial development and of changes in- Like the grassy fields and old pastures, the bird itself is vanishing …. compares grassy fields and old pastures with the bird noun-noun comparasion Correct-
C.that the birds themselves are vanishing in the northeastern United States is due to residential and industrial development and changes to- Like the grassy fields and old pastures, that the birds….. ,violates the rule of like Out -
D.in the northeastern United States, sandpipers’ vanishing is due to residential and industrial development and to changes in- Like the grassy fields and old pastures, in the northeastern United States, sandpipers’ vanishing compares grassy fields and old pastures with sandpipers’ vanishing . Two side must be logically paralel. Out
E.in the northeastern United States, the sandpipers’ vanishing, a result of residential and industrial development and changing -Like the grassy fields and old pastures, in the northeastern United States, sandpipers’ vanishing compares grassy fields and old pastures with sandpipers’ vanishing . Two side must be logically paralel. Out

To understand the sentence remove ….that ….. Argentine Pampas and read as Like the grassy fields and old pastures,

I did not get this sentence. Fields and pastures are compared with bird...how can we compare two non similar things. Also Manhattan SC guide says always compare similar things.

This questions still not clear at all to me . Can some one please explain it to me?

grassy fields, pastures are vanishing due to residential and industrial devlopment

sandpipers also are vanishing due to residential and industrial development.

they are similar as they are vanishing due to the same reasons.

To understand the sentence remove .that .. Argentine Pampas and read as Like the grassy fields and old pastures,
very well explained I must say....but there is one doubt in this.
In option A, why isn't 'the sandpipers' taken as the plural of sandpiper and why is it ruled out because of the missing apostrophe? It is very well possible to address the sandpipers in a plural form and the sentence then sounds correct...any views anyone?

Thanks,
Vivek.
