In the 1950s, when the Chrysler Corporation sponsored a live television show about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, it forbade the actors to mention Lincoln’s name or the name of the Ford Theater because it did not want to plug the competition.

I agree rest of the options have they but in A What is "it" referring to.
Pronoun should refer to its immediate antecedent.
so I don't think "it" is right in this sentence.
So I couldnot figure out any option

A it should be. Correctly uses the idiom 'Forbid X to do Y'.

"Chrysler Corporation" is the subject(singular). It can't have a pronoun "they".
Therefore, B, C, D, and E are incorrect because of the use of "they"
A: "it" correctly refers to "Chrysler Corporation". Hence, A is the answer.
