IMO, Kaplan 800 verbal is out of touch with the current level of real GMAT. I did not open the verbal section of Kaplan 800 at all. I wish Kaplan will improve in verbal section of their GMAT textbooks as they did with LSAT.
i attach here within the Sahil and Amateur notes for these who may need them
hariharakarthi,
Is LSAT bible for CR is enough to crack CR in GMAT?
LSAT CR bible is not the same as GMAT CR Bible. LSAT CR BIBLE is for these who want to sit for LSAT test while GMAT CR BIBBLE is for these who wanna sit for GMAT.
GMAT CR is enough if you can study it thoroughly. Remember; No Pain No Gain.
amitdgr,
How is the real test compared to GMATPrep ? especially the SC's ?
There are of the same in SC. but the RC and CR are tougher than GMATPREP.
bourne159
i have a few questions:
a) The GMAT prep tests did you do the entire exam (including essays) every time? Yes i did the entire exam as if i was in exam hall.Infact, I drove to nearest College in my area to do the practise
b) What additional practice did you get ? Any MGMAT tests? I did not do MGMAT at all.I only studied the GMATPREP throughly
c) Did you follow any pacing strategy on verbal?
The good thing about verbal is that once you notice how the test-writer write the write the wrong questions, you will be conscious the bait that lure you to choose the wrong answers.
d) Also during the exam did you hurry at any point during the verbal section?
I did not hurry.I was calm because i have learnt that when i am nervous i don't make good decision most of the time. Nervousness beclouds good judgement. Fear also beclouds good judgement.
Hope this helps
John.

John, this is the highest score ever that I am writing a testimonial to....
Congratulations man ....
Can you please tell me what do u mean when you say that "if you are a regular at this forum then you won't find the quant part in GMAT tough?"
Since I plan to give GMAT in Novemeber do you think that I should solve most of the past problems in the math forums here?
Regards

you mention
"Every morning,I searched for posts of Staurt,Ian,Ron, and Stacey in the forum and i printed 210 pages of tips and shortcuts from these experts.I tagged them BTG shortcuts."
Do you only have these on hard copy or you also have a word doc for these people's posts? Can you post them?

@Kaplan 800: yes it's not updated since many years. They just publish it every year with new cover page I guess.

John,
That score qualifies for a standing ovation..Incredible feat! It is the highest score I have ever seen on this forum (having been around here only a few months). And thanks for the detailed debrief too. Very helpful in deed.
To spread the wealth of your success using the prep materials that you managed to collect, I thought I can offer something to all the readers, present and future, of this forum.
At my office, I have a huge copier that spits out hardcopies into PDF files in blazing speeds. If you are interested, I'll be glad to scan your Quant shortcuts material into a single PDF file and have it posted on the GMAT Math Forum as a sticky with the help of our wonderful Moderators. Like the often used and much appreciated Flash Cards, I am sure many folks who attempt GMAT in the future, would find this as a comprehensive resource for learning some of the valuable shortcuts.
Of course, you don't have to send your original if you want to retain them even though you won't have a need for them anymore with such a stupendous score. You can always make a copy of your materials at a neighborhood Kinkos and get it shipped to my address in the DC area (which I'll forward to you separately via a Personal Message) if you are okay with this suggested solution. It will be my humble payback to this community for helping me prepare for my GMAT. Let me know if you are okay with this suggestion!
Yet again, Thanks for the insightful debrief..Congratulations!

I'm really glad to see someone improve their score so much - gives me a lot of hope.
Between your first and second score, the biggest difference was your HUGE improvement in verbal, and it seems that the LSAT study materials really helped you a lot. I'm planning to take the LSAT as well anyways, so I might as well just study for both. Thanks for the awesome debrief and advice.

Sorry,I have been busy lately with my applications. Hence,i could not reply in time.
As for the 200 pages folks have been asking me,i think i tailored these notes to strengthen my weakness in maths. keep in my that i got Q 48 in my first attempt.I just discovered that it took me too much time to solve some questions and i found Stuart and Ian approach better. For instance, i saw weight average in my test and i used stuart approach herhttps://www.beatthegmat.com/gmat-prep-8-please-help-t8660.html.
Just google Stuart and Ian past post about some that are given you trouble.
