Hi Pls help me with this situation. Even though , I know that the correct grammatical option is changing the menaing of the sentence, should I select that option?
The technical term pagination is a process that leaves editors, instead of printers, assemble the page images that become the metal or plastic plates used in printing.
1) is a process that leaves editors, instead of printers, assemble
2) refers to a process that allows editors , rather than printers, to assemble
3) is a process leaving the editors , rather than printers, to assemble
4) refers to a process which allows editors, but not to printers, the assembly of
5) has reference to the process leaving to editors, instead of the printer, assembling
The original sentence contains the word 'leaves'. Here in some options 'allows' is there. Shouldn't I discard these choices in the first go?
Rite option changing the meaning?

Ya that is correct.
But don't u think that the 2 option here is changing the entire meaning of the sentence. It is using the word 'allow' whereas in the original sentence the word 'leave' is used. Don't you think that the option 2 is changing the meaning of the sentence with 'allows' instead of 'leave'

Read the sentence once again. original sentence states that the process of pagination leaves editor instead of printer..... means it only selects editor to do the job rather than selecting the printer.dextar wrote:Ya that is correct.

Sentence B also try to say the same thing that it pagination allows editors....
So, there in no change in the meaning.
If the original answer has grammer errors, you have to pick the choice that is without any gramatical errors, even if it changes the meaning of the sentence. If there are two answer choices that are gramatically correct then you go with the one that doesnt change the meaning.
This is what i was taught, some one correct me if i am wrong.

My 2 cent here is ..... At the beginning of the sentence it says The "term" ..... So a term cannot be a process at all. Term should always mean or refer something. This will eliminate choices A, C, and E. Between B and D, choice B is grammatically correct and yet conveys the same meaning.
Choice of words doesnt matter. Sentence correction wants you to convey the idea in a standard english.

It is not changing the meaning at all...
The phrase "...a process that leaves editors, instead of printers, assemble..." means that the job of assembling is left to the editors instead of printers which is the same as the editors are allowed to assemble instead of the printers
