I think you have a shot at the schools you mentioned. On the one hand, certain parts of your profile (Indian, Deloitte, 680) are kind of "middle of the road", but on the other hand, your academic excellence at the university is truly exceptional, and your quick promotion confirms this. Plus being female will help!

For IT consulting, in the range of schools you mention, I could also suggest, Anderson, Haas and Mccombs, which I feel would be all good fits. Don't know if you will have the time to apply to ALL though, as we are pretty darn late in the season!

So, whatever you do, if your intention is to apply this year, GET STARTED!!!! time is quickly running out.

Hi Jon,

Can you please tell me if I have to retake the gmat to improve my chances of getting an admission?

I applied to Tepper,Ross,ISB and McDonough last year..

Got interview call from ISB and then finally dinged.

Waitlsited at McDonough and I am still on waitlist.

Tepper,Ross dinged me without an interview..

Please let me know whether improving my gmat score from 680 will increase my chances?

Also, please note that I wrote gmat throice and I got 680 in my thrid attempt.

First attempt: 600,Second Attempt: 640 and Third Attempt: 680.

If I get a score below 680 in my fourth attempt ,then will this affect adversely? Will this be considered negative by adcom and will this further reduce my chances?

Please help me!!

Thanks!!

Of course getting a higher GMAT will help you and also greatly. 680 is sort of a threshold, and if you can break the 700 level it can make a big difference. Even its its only 20 points, its still a score of a new order. If you take again and score lower, it should not affect you adversely, so I would definitely recommend retaking. I would also suggest having someone look at your previous applications, so that you might see what could have gone wrong, and improve upon it for this year.

Jon, Sorry to ask you again...My concern is if I get suppose 640/630,would adcom considers 680 as an outlier and that way would they consider me not fit for their programs? I mean, will my 680 be overlooked if I score 640 now?

I will definitely try my best to cross that 700 border. But,I just want to clear my mind before my fourth attempt..

Also, can I mail my ISB application form to you? Can you please review it and let me know what's lagging in my application? Please let me know. Thank you in advance!!

Hey Priya,
Sorry if I wasn't entirely clear, but even if you get a 640 it shouldn't harm your application.

I'd be happy to have one of my consultants look at your previous application. You can purchase this service here: https://admissionado.com/mba/packages/a- ... -analysis/
