Profile Evaluation - Phd Finance

Hi,

I am keen to apply for a PhD in Finance and would like to seek your advise on the same.

Can you please tell if my profile is suitable for applying for it at which all schools in US. My credentials are as given below for your perusal.

1. Bachelor's in Electrical Engg. - Delhi College of Engg, New Delhi.

2. MBA - Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

3. MS in Financial Engg. - National Univ. of Singapore.

4. GRE score - 325 : 158 (V), 167 (Q), GMAT - 730: 38 (V), 50 (Q).

5. Professional experience of 10 years in BFS analytics.

Well so far so good. If you are interested in a PhD position it is also helpful if you have done any of the three things:
1. Published
2. Conducted research
3. Taught

Since the focus is academic, in addition to your work experience, these things will be invaluable.

Now as you look for colleges for a PhD it is important that you look not only at universities but also at departments. Meaning you want to make sure that there is a Professor who would be interested in mentoring you on your specific topic of research.
