Unusual Candidate - Top 5 Chances?

by nightrunner19 » Fri Apr 09, 2010 6:54 am
What would the chances be for admission to a top 5 B-School with the following background 5 years out of undergrad:

- Undergraduate Degree in MIS (business) from top 70 b-school (GPA = 3.5)
- 2.5 years Full time leadership development program at a Fortune 50 company (Good recommendations / strong performance)
- Part time technical Masters in MIS from a Mid-Tier School (GPA = 3.5)
- 2.5 years in US Peace Corps
- Low quant grades in undergrad
- Haven't taken GMAT yet, but would approximate around 710

Dear nightrunner19,

Until you know your actual GMAT score, it is hard to really know your chances at any school. Likewise, the admissions decision will also greatly depend on the strength of your essays, recommendations, interview, and resume. While your GPA is solid and your Peace Corps experience is an asset, there are questions that remain which will have a significant impact. Based on your post, I think you have some competitive aspects; now you need to present them in the best way to give yourself the best chance (and score that 700+ on the GMAT!).

Best of luck,
Lisa
