by runnergod » Fri Oct 09, 2009 4:58 pm
Age 32
White/Male
Undergrad: Manhattan College, 1999
Major: Accounting
GPA: 3.1
Extracurricular activities: 4 year Division I athlete. More specifically I was a distance runner, meaning I competed year round (cross country, indoor track and outdoor track) as opposed to a soccer player who only competes for one season.

Work Experience:
3.5 years at a Big 4 Accounting Firm
1 year at an Alternative Investment Fund in a sales role.
2 years as a forensic accounting consultant
3 years a a CMBS (commercial mortgage backed securities) analyst at a rating agency.

CPA (Certified Public Accountant)

Triathlete (Ironman finisher)

GMAT: Have not taken official exam. However I believe I will be in the high 600's based on practice exams.

Schools Interested In (no particular order)
Cornell
Georgetown
Emory
UCLA
Columbia
USC
Berkely
MIT

Can you please categorize these schools as far as reach, likely and safety based on my profile?
Do legacies count for anything? My wife and both her parents attended Cornell if that helps at all.

Thanks for your time!

My concern is - What round are you planning to apply? Cornell second round deadline is approaching in November. If you want to take advantage of 'legacy' you need to sit for GMAT - ASAP! I would avoid round3 as much as possible. Applying in round 3 - should be your last case scenario.
