Request you to kindly have a look at the profile below and evaluate my chances. Kindly also suggest suitable scholarship options if any.

1) Brief description of full-time work experience
Project Engineer with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) (Designation: Scientist/Engineer 'SD') (4+ years)

Manage product development and research for turbo-pump subsystems for a new semi cryo rocket high thrust engine for future Indian Space launch vehicle programme. Responsible for co-ordinating activities of 10+ teams across centres of ISRO and industry for the development of critical technologies and realisation of the turbo-pumps. Develop and maintain schedule for the overall project and mainage a Rs 1 bn+ budget for the project.


Highlights: Managed realisation of one of the critical liquid oxygen booster pump in record time of 6 months. Brought visible change in usage of PLM and other digital platforms across management levels to speed up turnaround time which reduced design to fabrication time frame. Brought in support for usage of additive manufacturing techniques for part realisation and model making. Youngest attendee in the annual meeting of ISRO.

Co-ordinated fabrication activities for realisation of first sounding rocket designed by students in Asia.

Extra-curricular:
Actively involved in establishment of a business incubation center at my alma mater IIST focused on promoting Space and related technology startups. Published a paper on "Business Incubation for Fostering Innovation in Space Commerce: An Indian Perspective" in International Astronautical Congress.
Career counselor for a state level organization Xomidhan in my home state Assam, India.
Competent Communicator in the Toastmaster International Club and secretary of the city club. Lead the team in design and execution of public speaking educational drives of the club.


Leadership Experience: Co-founded a restaurant and lead a team of 5 staff and a manager. Started another unit within 6 months of operation. The business was sold at par to partner after a year of operations.

Hi Umang,

Your overall candidature is pretty strong. 760 on GMAT is very good and ISRO brand will help. Ensure that you dont make your profile unidimensional by focusing only on tech aspects. Show that you have business acumen and can succeed in solving business problems/ environment. Use the Business Incubation Center thing that you have.

MIT Sloan may be tough ( it is tough for everyone) but you can go ahead.

Kellogg can be targeted but it is not the best option for which you want to do

Ross is good.

HKUST is finance school. So, would not recommend.

Consider CMU Tepper and Tuck as well.


Top schools generally dont offer a lot of scholarship. So, if you are keen on good scholarship, you will have to look at schools like Emory, Mccombs etc.
