GMAT Score:700
Hi Everyone,

Can someone please help me to evaluate my profile. I want to apply for top tier B-School. Do I stand any chance for Harvard, Stanford or MIT ?

GMAT Score: 700 ( 50Q/34V)
-I understand my verbal is not very good, but I gave my best. I did my schooling in non-english medium so my verbal basics are not very strong.

Education:
B.Tech from a private college. GPA = 4.0 (2002-2006)
- Though I did my engineering from private college but I really did very good in my academics. I was ALWAYS in top 3 students.

Graduate diploma in Banking from London School of Economics, GPA = 3.5 (2009-2011)
- My keen interest is Finance. I did this diploma to get a taste of finance world and also to get my basics clear in order to excel in MBA.

2 IT certification both with GPA 4.5

Work Experience
- 5.5 years of experience including 5 years of oversees experience.
- Won "young achiever of the year 2006" award on the very first year of my professional career.
- Currently working as "Technical lead".
- I work in a team of 21 people. We have 14 nationalities in our team. :)

Extra Curricular in school and colleges
- A regular participant in arts competition. I have won more than 50 competition including some at national level and at state level.
- A regular participant in science quizzes. I have won few competitions.
- School cricket team member.

Extra Curricular after college

Well, its good.

You are a top contender. Nevertheless, you still need to apply with terrific essays. Resort to a theme with a goal. The only deterrent which i could see is an imbalance in verbal score, which needs to be addressed. Dont give them anything to reject.

Prepare for interviews well.

Hi sunnyjohn,

You have many strengths in your background, with highlights being
a 4.0 GPA
Banking diploma from LSE (provided it is relevant to your current job)
5 years of international experience
working in a multicultural team

Being from non-english medium school, you need to show somewhere that you are conversant with English language in a business environment. A 34 in verbal might be in question but you can easily demonstrate your English proficiency through
1. TOEFL
2. Recommender's validation that you have been successfully performing in English speaking environment and dealing with people from other countries
3. Your essays.

Having said that, 700 + IT does not paint a diverse profile. Harvard, MIT and Stanford might be long shot. If you want to target a few top 10 schools, I'd recommend one of Kellogg/Wharton and maybe Tuck/Tepper. Feel free to reach out to us if you need more info.

I agree with Nitin, you will need to look at a balanced slate of schools given your profile is a popular one. The very top schools will have folks from your "segment" with very high gmat scores. That being said, your arts competitions and educational website could be great hooks for you, and they should get some real estate in your essays for sure.

Good luck!

You might even choose a broader selection of other schools in addition to the Kellogg/Wharton and Tuck/Tepper. But we would need to know more about your goals to suggest any of these programs.
